A Reintroduction
Years ago I kept a blog, mostly sharing creative projects from our NJ location I thought would never change. However, life did bring changes and after 46 years in NJ, we now live in beautiful New England. We downsized to a very old historic house in Massachusetts that we fell in love with the first time we saw it. We have spent most of this year settling in and making it our own. My choice for being creative is still painting, but I’m now taking a class in watercolor, something I could never get right. What I’ve learned is that it’s much more involved than I imagined. So I’m going forward with a wonderful instructor, and I look forward to each weekly class. I’ll start this first post with a few favorites and am open to any and all suggestions. I’m looking forward to blogging again, topics not limited. Just post what you have been doing since last we “met”!

Oh Wow I Love your painting Barbara

DeleteThanks, Kathy! I like some parts of it more than others, will keep experimenting. It’s relaxing.
DeleteI really like one I think it is perfect-hugs
DeleteI love the effect you got with the sky!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debra! I think the sky and tree on the left are two areas where I have managed to be successful painting more loosely. Not so sure about the rocks and cabin. Painting loosely is more fun for me, so I’ll keep trying. :)
DeleteOhhhh Barb this is stunning. I'm so impressed with this painting. So far I have not had much luck with watercolor and envy that you create with such beautiful colors and depth. I also agree with Debra about the sky. A wonderful effect. Thank you for joining SITAR. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nicole. I kept trying but didn’t have watercolor luck either. Then
DeleteI signed up for a class at a community center after we moved. It’s amazing how everyone in the class has improved. There is a lot to learn, many numerous tips, shortcuts and rules. It’s a whole new experience after years of using only oils and acrylics. I love it!
It is a lovely painting! It makes me want to go there. I think you are figuring out how to paint loosely. Mostly-be true to your real desires about doing art. I have seen 'paint loose' all over YouTube like it's the only way to paint, or like it's the ultimate in painting. It's not. But I think you only find things out by staying with it and just painting. Your own style comes from lots of painting.
ReplyDeleteLovely art
ReplyDeleteI think you nailed the cliffs Barbara. And I really like that colorful sky. I think you did a super job with this piece. It came out great. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI like your painting very much. It has a lot of calm atmosphere. Beautiful.
