Spring in Southeast Massachusetts

Image
We are still having some cooler nights but more warm sunny days, so everything is growing. The former owners of our house were flower gardeners and our yard is filled with perennial plants. I am not an eager gardener so I appreciate that they grow on their own. But we are learning they also require weeding kand the removal of dried plants from last year, especially the dead hostas. Maybe some of you know the answer to a question I have. The photo shows a current view of a small backyard area where spring has brought life to daffodils, tulips, rose bushes, and what may be a large lily of the valley. Along the white fence and walkway it's filled with purplish peony shoots. I was excited last year to see those bulbs looking healthy and growing well, but they never produced any peony flowers! I now wonder, might they produce flowers this year? Is there something I should do to help them bloom?

Watercolor Class Homework

Image
COLD BERRIES This homework was assigned by email when we had a major snowstorm that canceled my watercolor class. I haven't seen the entire class' work yet so this is the only picture I have, its my own. I really liked doing this one especially because it wasn't really terribly hard.

Water Color Painting Class

Image
These still life paintings of a cup of coffee are weird!! Our instructor said it was like a "paint by number". They can be very nice, but most of us chose the coffee to be in shades of blue. We were allowed to pick our own colors, and I dont know why blue won!! The class' paintings are above mine (click Read More). I'm calling mine "Cuppa Blue Worm" or how about "Cuppa Blue Bile"! Hey, Nicole ! is that freaky enough? I'd try to change that color but I'm really tired of working on this one. LOL!

Returning with a Favorite

I was away from blogging for a number of weeks. While gone my watercolor class enjoyed creating an owl painting. I was eager to post this here as I really enjoyed painting it. Not many of my paintings end up on a wall, but this one did at least for awhile. Click on "Read More" for whole painting in true size.

Taking a break

Hi folks, I need to take time to tend to some other things, including the ins and outs of keeping this blog going. I may have to admit my age has started to show and recalling how to do it isnt as easy for my brain as in the past. I will be around and hopefully commenting, so I'm wishing you all well and joy as spring approaches. This winter has been a bear in Massachusetts!

Last Week’s Watercolor Painting Class

Image
This first photo is the class's paintings in various stages of completion. We never feel our own paintings are good but they always impress us when laid down together at the end of class. The photo below is my painting brought home to be finished as "homework" (click "Read More"). I'm not really unhappy wth it but paintings of buildings are hard.
