Grumpy Trudy

One of my papier-mache dolls. She has a beautiful gown but she is always grumpy anyhow. Thus she is a perennial wallflower.

Today’s Watercolor Painting Class Subject

Image
This is today’s  painting for inspiration. I’ll share some of the class’ work below (click on “Read More”) . We thought it would be super hard but we did pretty well. This class is so much fun and very rewarding.

Vintage Glass Face

Image
I think this vintage jar may have been used to hold something for sale, and it reminds me of any number of “Mr. Peanut” jars. However, he has piercing eyes, a dour expression and a large mouth unlike those in peanut or peanut butter ads. I searched to identify its origin but found nothing.  If you think you know the answer please put it in a comment, thanks!

A Debra Smith Original

Image
I’m not certain of the exact date but it’s signed 2020. When I saw it on Debra Smith’s blog back then I made sure she knew how much I loved it. She was so generous in her reply and she decided to send it to me. This 5x7 inch delightful little bird portrait has been gracing my kitchen ever since. It even made it through our move from NJ to Massachusetts and is one of the things that made our “new to us” house feel like “home”.

Watercolor Painting Class Report

Image
Not only is my watercolor painting instructor talented but she is also very good at bringing out the best of us in her class. This photo shows our work inspired by our instructor’s original painting of a feather and bead decoration. Most of us were finished in class, some are still in progress, and mine is the least done (bottom left). Now I have the most homework of all which is  to finish my painting by next week’s class. I am a very slow painter!
